PRAY FOR HAITI

Time heals our wounds.

Most of us have grown up hearing that phrase during painful times in our lives. But does it really? Does the pain diminish? Or do we simply become accustomed to it and just go on about living life; because life does continue to move forward.

Last year on this day at 4:53pm Haiti had a 7.0 earthquake, which was followed by 33 aftershocks over the next few weeks that followed ranging from 4.2 to 5.9, that took the lives of 250,000 to 300,000 people. Their lives as they knew it had changed drastically in less than a minute, leaving 1.5 million people homeless. Their pain is still very real, very deep.

Now a year later, approximately 1 million people are still homeless. And the cholera outbreak has taken another 3,300+ lives. We are so thankful a lot of homes have already been built, medical care provided, and supplies delivered – there is still much more to do. Too many Haitians still have no hope, and they need the hope that only Jesus Christ can fulfill.

Would you please join us in a time of prayer for the people of Haiti, for the country itself and their Leaders and for the teams going there offering hope, building and serving as God directs?

Richard is in Haiti now with a Team from Oklahoma, and he will be sharing in a church service tonight as they reunite for the one year anniversary of the earthquake. His desire is to be used by God to offer hope through Jesus Christ and to demonstrate Christ’s love to all that will listen – to be the vessel for God’s Word.

Please share this with your church if you have a Wednesday night service, and let’s come together as one in Praying for Haiti. Some are taking a moment at 4:53pm for a time of prayer, while others will lift up their prayer during the normal church service. Many miracles have already happened there – and we look forward to God’s Spirit moving in an almighty way across their land and seeing even more miracles take place!

As you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. 2 Corinthians 1:11 NIV

After spending the first week of this new year in Callebasse, Haiti with Richard and our team from Northshore Church I feel once again more abundantly blessed than I deserve. Working on building & painting houses makes me realize that we can indeed make a difference in someone’s life in Haiti that desperately needs help. Seeing one gentleman clap his hands and dance after we dedicated his new home brought me to tears. Spending time with the children at the House of Blessing orphanage and being once again welcomed with loving, open arms is always such a joy! They are truly gifts, each one of them, and I look forward to my next trip. I miss them all!
